Historic Graffiti

An overview of the many and varied inscriptions, drawings, pictures and ritual protection marks carved, scribed and scratched onto the walls of our historic buildings. The subject matter concentrates on the mediaeval and early modern periods with a special emphasis on the stories which can be drawn out of the evidence in a manner similar to archival or art historical approaches.

The material can be taught either in a classroom or within a historic building – the latter offers the opportunity for practical training.
