A straightforward introductory day school on the subject of the archaeology and architecture of chapels, churches, monasteries and cathedrals. Initially taking the very simplest type of Christian religious building – the chapel and building on the evidence from increasingly complex sites to explain the functions, appearance and dating of a variety of features from bell towers to squints, from sedilia to priest’s doors and from fonts to gargoyles.
