Home Cooked Heritage: The Buildings Archaeology of Food & Dining

Originally devised for a Heritage Lottery Funded project for Inspire, Home Cooked Heritage approaches the subject of food preparation and consumption in the mediaeval and early modern periods. By looking at the surviving structural evidence for food storage in monasteries, fireplace technologies in houses and the layout of great halls of castles we can understand just how different the experience of eating was in the past.
