Looking at various aspects of structures used during the mediaeval period in Britain, this course considers building materials, methods of construction and developments over time. The wide-ranging topics include civic, religious, domestic and agricultural buildings spread across over five hundred years of history.
From simple open hall house plans with primitive central hearths to complex palaces sprouting crenellations and forests of chimneys the discussion will look at how and why buildings change over time to meet the needs of their occupants.
