Paston Footprints 600

Caister Castle, Norfolk

2019 marked the 600th anniversary of the earliest surviving letter written by the famous Paston family. Their writing allows an unprecedented opportunity to understand the rise of a major Norfolk gentry family during the late mediaeval and early modern periods.

Project director, Matthew Champion, invited Triskele Heritage to comment on the survey work at the Paston’s former home at Oxnead Hall and to present a paper on the architectural influence of their castle of Caister at a conference examining the world of the family.
