Triskele Heritage were successful in a funding bid with the Castle Studies Trust for carrying out a research project at Greasley Castle in Nottinghamshire.
The work focused on the production of an interpretative phased floor plan. The castle, built in the 1340s, has an obscure history and the understanding of its architectural phasing was formerly, at best, very cloudy. The site is a working farm and a number of post-mediaeval structures have been conglomerated around the remains of a fourteenth century courtyard house with projecting corner towers.
The survey acted as baseline research data for a site which had not previously received little fieldwork or publication. Fieldwork took place during the spring and summer of 2021 and the final report was made publicly available in April 2022.
Below are links to the archaeological report, fieldwork videos, blog articles, media coverage and public talks on the subject of the castle.
